Hawthorne Inn, Concord MA | |
Aptly named, as it is across Lexington Road from The Wayside, where the Alcotts and Nathaniel Hawthorne once lived. |
The Hawthorne Inn, a mile east of the center of Concord (map), is also very close to Orchard House, where Louisa May Alcott wrote Little Women. (The Alcotts lived atThe Wayside for several years as well.) The inn has pleasant gardens with a tiny fountain, and seven guest rooms decorated with period pieces, antique beds, original works of art, and nice homey touches like hooked rugs. All guest rooms have private bathrooms. Innkeepers Gregory Burch and Marilyn Mudry provide an expanded continental breakfast and afternoon tea, included in your room rate. From the Hawthorne Inn, it's a 5- or 10-minute walk to the Concord Museum and Emerson House, 15 minutes to Monument Square (map). From Monument Square, follow Lexington Road east one mile to the inn, on the right. The Hawthorne Inn
