Falmouth's own Island Queen carries passengers and bicycles only (no cars) from Falmouth Harbor to Oak Bluffs on Martha's Vineyard. The voyage takes about 35 minutes, and is usually quite smooth and comfortable. Reservations are accepted only for groups of 20 or more passengers. Just show up at the Island Queen dock and buy a ticket. Tickets are good for any sailing on any date. Fares, payable in cash only (or traveler's checks—no credit cards!) are $12 one-way, $20 round-trip, per adult, with discounts for children. To ship a bicycle costs $4 each way. This passenger ferry sails seven times a day in each direction from mid-June through the first week in September. From Memorial Day to mid-June and Labor Day to Columbus Day it sails twice a day in each direction during (four times a day on weekends). There are no sailings from mid-October to late May. A refreshment bar on board serves snacks, sandwiches, soft drinks, beer, and cocktails. You can also buy Martha's Vineyard tour bus tickets on board. There is even a moonlight cruise on some evenings in July and August. For car ferries to the islands, you'll have to go to Woods Hole, 6 miles (10 km) southeast of Falmouth. Island
