Art galleries and museums, yes, but the real delight is just in exploring Vieux Québec itself.

Start your explorations in Vieux Québec (Old Québec, map), the old walled city dating from 1608, when Samuel de Champlain founded a small pallisaded trading post at the foot of Cap Diamant.

You're probably staying at a hotel or inn in Vieux Québec, perhaps even one on the pretty Jardin des Gouverneurs just behind the palatial Hotel Le Chateau Frontenac.

This means you're in the upper town, atop Cap Diamant. There's also the lower town, reached by many stairs or a faster, less strenuous funicular (cable lift).
