Amtrak's Downeaster train
runs five times daily between Boston MA
and Portland ME via Woburn and Haverhill

Orchard Beach ME (map).
Two of the daily trains continue past Portland to Freeport ME, home of L L Bean, and Brunswick (for Bowdoin College).
Exeter NH is nearest to Hampton

Although the train goes right through the
Kennebunks, it doesn't stop. The nearest
station stops are in Wells and Saco ME.
The journey between Boston and Portland takes 2.5 hours, as compared
to 2 hours by intercity

train also takes a more scenic route than
the highway for much
of its journey.
