Boston-Logan Int'l Airport (BOS)

Boston's Logan International Airport (BOS), 3 miles (5 km) east of Boston Common across Boston Harbor (map), is one of the busiest in the USA.

Operated by the Massachusetts Port Authority ("MassPort"), it is well organized, and has the advantage of being very near the center of the city, as airports go.

There are four terminals: A, B, C and E.

Note that all international flights arrive at Terminal E, even though some international flights may depart from other terminals.

On-Airport Transportation

Free Logan On-Airport Shuttle Buses circulate among the terminals and connect them to the various parking lots, the Rental Car Center, the MBTA subway Blue Line train station, and the MBTA ferryboats to Long Wharf on the Boston waterfront.

After you claim your baggage, look for the signs to buses, taxis, and "limo," and after a few steps you'll see the stops. Find your rideshare app (Uber, Lyft) car at the rideshare pickup area on the ground level of the Central Parking garage (follow the signs).

Airport Ground Transportation

Here's how to travel between Logan Airport and Boston, and cities beyond Boston, by subway train, city bus, intercity bus, airport shuttle van, water shuttle, limo, taxi and rideshare app.

After you get your bags, look for the signs to buses, taxis, and "limo," and after a few steps you'll see the stops. For Rideshare App cars (Uber, Lyft, etc.), follow the signs to the ground floor of the Central Parking garage.

Silver Line Bus (SL1)

MBTA Silver Line buses (SL1) stop right in front of all Logan Airport terminals, then go via the Seaport District, its hotels, and the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, to the South Station Transportation Center which is a half-mile (800 meters) southeast of Boston Common.

Traveling from the airport to the city on SL1, the ride is free, and at South Station you can transfer to the Red Line subway trains, and from that line to other lines, also free. For example, take MBTA subway Red Line from South Station to Park Street Station (for hotels near Boston Common and hotels near Beacon Hill) and, farther along the Red Line, to Cambridge hotels.

South Station is also where you catch MBTA Commuter Rail trains to towns west and south of Boston, and Amtrak trains to cities and states west and south of Boston. Intercity and interstate buses also depart from South Station.

Blue Line Subway

Logan On-Airport Shuttle Buses go to all terminals and to the MBTA Blue Line Airport subway station, where you can take a Blue Line train into Boston.

MBTA Ferries

Several MBTA Ferry lines call at the Logan Airport Ferry Terminal and can take you to Long Wharf in Boston.

Rideshare Apps (Uber & Lyft)

Follow the Rideshare App signs to Logan's Central Parking garage ground floor waiting area, where Rideshare App cars are required to pick up passengers.

Taxi

A taxi from Logan Airport to Boston or neighboring cities may cost between $25 and $45 for the ride, plus tunnel toll, plus airport fee, plus excess baggage charge (if any), plus tip. Figure $35 to $60 altogether, depending on how far you travel.

Manchester-Boston Regional Airport

Served by a growing number of regional and national carriers, Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT), 55 miles (89 km) north of Boston's Logan International Airport (BOS)(map), is the fastest-growing major airport in New England. It serves as a valuable "relief" airport for Boston-Logan even though Manchester handles only a fraction of Logan's number of flights. MHT has the advantages of modern facilities, less crowding, convenient and cheap parking, and many low fares.

Greyhound buses from Boston's South Station Bus Terminal can take you to Manchester-Boston Airport in a little over an hour.

T F Green International Airport

Rhode Island is so compact that one airport handles all the important national flights: it's T F Green International Airport (PVD) in Warwick, just a few miles south of Providence, and 62 miles (100 km) south of Boston-Logan. The airport is connected to Boston via MBTA Commuter Rail trains on the Providence line, and by Amtrak Northeast Regional and Acela Express trains.

Worcester Regional Airport

Worcester Regional Airport (ORH), five miles (8 km) west of central Worcester, and 55 miles (89 km) west of Boston-Logan, serves flights by American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and JetBlue.

Peter Pan and Greyhound buses connect Worcester to Boston (Logan Airport & South Station Bus Terminal). The journey takes 1 hr 40 min from Logan, 70 min from South Station. In Worcester, take a rideshare app car or taxi to the airport (15 to 20 minutes).
